French Open Predictions – Friday 29th May 2026:
- Casper Ruud -4.5 games (4/5)
- Jakub Menšík +5.5 games (Evens)
- Mirra Andreeva -5.5 games (4/5)
- Belinda Bencic to win and both players to win a set (5/2)
The stage is set and with plenty still in the hunt for the coveted trophy and lucrative Roland Garros prize pot, we look at the biggest matches at the 2026 French Open on Friday.
Casper Ruud vs Tommy Paul
A finalist in Rome and a semifinalist in Geneva, Casper Ruud is a man in form. Tommy Paul struggled initially on European clay with early losses in Madrid and Rome, but he made the final in Hamburg with a couple of impressive wins.
The men’s draw is absolutely wide open. Novak Djokovic is the probable opponent in the next round, but both will believe they can beat the veteran Serbian.
Ruud has historically had the better of Paul. He’s also got a great clay-court record overall and got back on track after being taken to five sets in the first round.
Alex de Minaur vs Jakub Menšík
Alexander Blockx’s withdrawal means Alex de Minaur has had some extra time to rest ahead of his third-round match against Jakub Menšík. Menšík was pushed to a fifth-set tiebreak by Mariano Navone after winning his first-round match in straight sets.
These players are meeting for a sixth time. All five have gone de Minaur’s way so far, with Menšík’s only set being won in their first match two years ago.
Neither player has exactly been setting the world alight of late. Both have been pretty underwhelming on the clay. This feels like a toss-up.
Marie Bouzková vs Mirra Andreeva
Marie Bouzková has never won a set against Mirra Andreeva. Andreeva has already beaten Bouzková twice this year, and got the better of the Czech on Madrid’s clay little over 12 months ago.
Bouzková hasn’t beaten a top 30 player since Adelaide. Andreeva has excelled on the clay courts over the last few weeks and has a legitimate chance of going all the way at Roland Garros.
We fancy Andreeva to maintain her excellent form and win this without too much stress.
Peyton Stearns vs Belinda Bencic
Peyton Stearns has only lost 10 games across her first two matches. Belinda Bencic, the clear favourite for this contest, has lost nine. Stearns is searching for her first win over a top 30 player since she beat Sofia Kenin in the first round of the Australian Open.
A win over Amanda Anisimova in Miami has been Bencic’s highlight over the last couple of months. Charleston, Madrid, and Rome haven’t been particularly successful for the 29-year-old.
This is a golden opportunity for Bencic to reach the fourth round of the French Open for the first time. Stearns has started well, though, and should make this competitive.
