Wimbledon round two betting tips: Nadal and Swiatek among betting options

William Hill have selected four Wimbledon betting tips for the men’s and women’s second round.

Nadal and Swiatek get back on the court in what promises to be an exciting second day of round two at Wimbledon

Among the predictions is a first set whitewash from Nadal and some tight fixtures which could go to the wire.

Wimbledon betting tips: Rafael Nadal to win first set 6-1 or 6-2 @ 11/4

At last year’s Wimbledon Rafael Nadal was nowhere to be seen having dropped out of the Championships with injury concerns.

This time round, Rafa is proving the doubters wrong yet again and showing just why he holds the record for the most Grand Slam titles in men’s tennis.

Facing a tough challenge in Francisco Cerundolo in the first round, Nadal managed to pull through, taking the match in four sets in front of a supporting Centre Court crowd.

Dispatching his opponent 6-4 6-3 3-6 6-4, though not at his world beating best, it is predicted that Nadal will be stronger going into this match and is likely to go in all guns blazing straight away and come away with a dominant 6-1 or 6-2 to win in the first set.

When he gets going, Nadal doesn’t hang about and can often stop his opponent from making even a dent in his relentless thrust to victory.

Wimbledon betting tips: Nick Kyrgios to defeat Filip Krajinovic in 3-2 @ 6/1

Only just edging the win over Britian’s Paul Jubb in the first round, Kyrgios is the strong 3/10 favourite to win this tie.

His antics on the court make him a relatively high-profile player despite his ATP ranking of 40 and the momentum he seems to be generating along with his consistent will to win, sees him as a likely winner.

Krajinvoc’s struggle in his opening game suggests we could see a very high scoring and tight match that could end up going all the way to a final set tiebreak.

Kyrgios difficulty in his match with Jubb, highlights his likelihood to drop sets but his determination and sheer power sees a 3-2 win to the Australian as a likely outcome.

Wimbledon betting tips: Iga Swiatek to win the first set 6-0 @ 5/1

The current world’s best female tennis player, Iga Swiatek has now won a record 36 games on the trot and is showing no signs of taking her foot of the gas.

She won the French Open final in straight sets only a month ago and begun her Wimbledon 2022 campaign just how she left off in Paris.

She is expected to do just the same here and her opponent, Lesley Kerkhove is not predicted to put up much resistance to the Pole’s claim for a spot in the third round of the competition.

Swiatek won her first set of the championship 6-0 against Croatia’s Jana Fett. She tends to make fast starts in her matches and if in the same form against Kerkhove, a similar opening set whitewash shouldn’t be discounted at odds of 5/1.

Wimbledon betting tips: Coco Gauff and Michaela Buzarnescu to play a tiebreak @ 4/1

Reaching the Roland Garros final in 2022 where she lost to Iga Swiatek, Cori ‘Coco’ Gauff has started Wimbledon well and is the favourite in this tie to progress to the third round at 1/12.

In recent matches, she has been playing some top-quality tennis but has almost always lost to the players ranked in the top 20. She is always improving though and if she stays on this trajectory, she will surely become one of the best female tennis players over the next decade.

She has shown a fantastic aptitude for winning matches with her last five victories coming in straight sets. However, the pressure of Wimbledon is likely to tell so there is a good chance at least one of the sets against world number 127 Michaela Buzarnescu will end with a tie breaker.

It is 4/1 that the match will feature a tie break with the odds for the score to be 3-3 after six games in each of the first two sets at 11-1.
