Wimbledon semi final betting tips: Norrie and Tatjana Maria look to be smart betting options

| BY News Team

William Hill have put together four betting tips for the men’s and women’s Wimbledon semi-finals.

Cameron Norrie is the only Brit still standing but his toughest challenge is yet to come. He takes on Novak Djokovic in what promise to be four scintillating Wimbledon semi-finals.

Wimbledon betting tips: Cameron Norrie to beat Novak Djokovic and over 33.5 games @ 9/1

In what has been his best ever performance at a Grand Slam, Cameron Norrie has impressed since day one and now remains the sole survivor in what has been an impressive campaign for a lot of British tennis players.

Comfortably taking his first victory in straight sets, the world number 12 is the first British man to reach a Wimbledon semi-final since Andy Murray and will face the former world number one, six-time victor and defending champion, Novak Djokovic, in his shot for a place in the 2022 Wimbledon men’s final.

Having never reached a semi final in a major tournament and playing the man that has won 20 of the 31 major finals he has appeared in, Norrie goes into the match as the 7/1 underdog.

However, with the home crowd on his back and a powerful forehand and backhand, the South Africa-born man surely has a chance of causing a major upset.

Both players have dropped sets in recent matches and come back to win so it will not be surprising or unwelcome to see this one go all the way and for the match to feature over 33.5 games.

Wimbledon betting tips: Simona Halep v Elena Rybakina – 2-2 after four games in each of the first two sets @ 4/1

Grand slam semi-finals are rarely thrashings and with the way these two have been playing so far this tournament, it seems likely we will see a very tight affair.

Halep hasn’t dropped a set yet this Wimbledon and by all accounts seems on course for a place in the final as the 1/3 favourite to emerge victorious and book her place on centre court. However, playing in her quarter final yesterday, she may find the lack in rest could dampen her power and stamina.

Elena Rybakina had also played a flawless tournament until her quarter final yesterday, loosing the first set before fighting back to win the match convincingly 6-3 in the final set.

Wimbledon betting tips: Nadal v Kyrgios to go to five sets @ 9/4

As it seems to every year, Wimbledon has set us up for a classic that is sure to be filled with excitement and outstanding tennis.

Arguably the world’s greatest ever, is taking on the most controversial player of recent years and the quality of tennis the two have been playing throughout this tournament leaves the outcome of the match anyone’s guess.

The level Nadal and Kyrgios have reached this summer is second to none with both players having one or two attributes that have fooled every single player they have come up against. With Kyrgios, it is his outstanding serve that is too quick to predict. Nadal has an incredible ability to return even the deepest and hardest of shots so the tie will almost certainly go the whole distance.

Both players have had matches go to five sets at least once this tournament and the passion and determination they have shown makes it hard to believe either will give up a spot in the final easily.

Wimbledon betting tips: Tatjana Maria to win the first set against Ons Jabeur @ 3/1

The first of the women’s semi-finals could prove to be the tightest of the bunch as the contrasting styles of Ons Jabeur and Tatjana Maria may prove to cancel each other out.

Defeating Marie Bouzkova in her quarter final, Jabeur has won four of her five matches at this Wimbledon in straight sets and is the favourite to win this tie at 1/8. She has become one of the most powerful players on the WTA Tour with her strong forehand proving too much to handle for a lot of the top-rated female players. However, the experience of Tatjana Maria will offer a fresh challenge.

Tatjana will be looking to nullify Jabeur’s power with her soft slices and deft drop shots. Though Maria has dropped the first set in her last two matches, her delicate touch and ability to change the momentum of a rally may be the all-important factor in halting the powerful advances of her 27-year-old adversary and sees her look likely to take the first set.
