Bundesliga Opta Facts - 7-9 November

Hertha BSC v Hannover 96

  • Hannover have won their last two away matches against Hertha. Wolfsburg are the only other side against whom 96 have also won their last two away games.
  • 96 have collected 16 points, despite having scored only seven goals - no Bundesliga side has ever achieved that feat before after 10 games. Hannover have also equalled a club-low record in the Bundesliga: The only other time that their tally of goals scored at this stage of the season was just seven was in 1970/71 (5 points collected).
  • 10 of Hertha's 11 points this season have been earned in home games and they have won each of their last three games in Berlin - the last time they achieved that within one season was in the second half of 2008/09.
  • For the first time in BL history, Hannover have kept five clean sheets after 10 matchdays. Indeed, only once before have they shipped just 11 goals after 10 games, in 2004/05.
  • Tayfun Korkut's side have won their last two games without conceding. Another win coupled with a clean sheet would see Hannover equal a club record (set in the 2006/07 season).
  • Hertha BSC have conceded the most second-half goals (13). Their tally of seven goals conceded from set pieces is also a joint-league-high (together with Stuttgart).
  • Hanover's last two goals have come from dead balls - they have failed to score from open play in their last five matches.
  • Berlin have committed the most fouls this season (200) and have posted the lowest tackle success rate (46.5% of challenges won).
  • Jos Luhukay is still without a win against Hannover after seven BL meetings in charge of four different clubs (D3, L4), including his first top-flight game on 1st November 2003 (2-1 loss as interim manager of 1. FC Köln).
  • With four goals to his name, new signing Salomon Kalou is Hertha's top scorer, scoring three goals for Berlin in their last three home matches.
  • With an average of 1.48 points per game earned, Tayfun Korkut is the best Hannover manager in the club's Bundesliga history.

Bayer 04 Leverkusen v 1. FSV Mainz 05

  • Mainz have won seven of their 16 BL games against Leverkusen - they have only recorded more top-flight wins against Nürnberg (8, also 7 against Freiburg).
  • Only in the first of their nine competitive away games against Bayer have Mainz failed to score. On average, the 05ers have bagged 1.33 goals per game in Leverkusen.
  • Bayer 04 have won just one of their last five BL games (D3, L1) - a 1-0 victory over Schalke. Leverkusen have nine points fewer to their name currently (16) than they did at this stage of last season.
  • However, Leverkusen are unbeaten in their last nine home games (W5, D4). Their last defeat on home soil was a 3-2 loss to Hoffenheim at the end of March.
  • Mainz have recently suffered back-to-back defeats (3-0 in Wolfsburg, 2-1 against Bremen) - the 05ers were still unbeaten after eight matchdays for the first time in their BL history (W3, D5).
  • FSV have won just one of their last nine BL away games (D3, L5). Mainz haven't kept a clean sheet in any of their last 10 matches on the road, with their last shut-out away from home coming in a 1-0 win in Leverkusen in early March.
  • Leverkusen have hit the woodwork 11 times already this season, a league-high figure - no other side has been denied by the woodwork on more than six occasions.
  • Against no other side this season do Bundesliga teams post a worse average passing accuracy rate than they manage against Leverkusen (66%).
  • Philipp Wollscheid is currently on loan at Mainz from Bayer 04. The defender joined Leverkusen from 1. FC Nürnberg in the summer of 2012 and has made 51 BL appearances for Bayer 04 so far over two seasons (2 goals).
  • Shinji Okazaki scored his sixth goal of the season in the 2-1 loss to Bremen and jointly leads the BL goalscoring charts together with Franco Di Santo, Mario Götze and Alex Meier.
  • Karim Bellarabi (55) and Kevin De Bruyne (70) have been involved in the most shots this season (shots combined with chances created). By comparison, the entire Mainz team have only mustered around twice as many shots between them (112).

FC Augsburg v SC Paderborn 07

  • The two sides have never met in the Bundesliga before. Augsburg are unbeaten in their last five competitive matches against Paderborn (W2, D3) with their last defeat to SCP coming in March 2008 in the second division (1-0 at home).
  • Paderborn have lost only to Bayern, Gladbach and Hoffenheim this season, collecting 15 points from their other seven games. That's as many points as Hertha had after 10 matches in their 2013/14 campaign following promotion.
  • FC Augsburg have accrued an impressive 19 of a possible 24 points from their last eight BL home games. Only one of those matches ended in defeat (3-2 loss to Dortmund on matchday 2), with their only draw in that run a 0-0 against Hertha.
  • Andre Breitenreiter's side have scored more goals in their first 10 games this season (16) than both Braunschweig and Fürth had netted between them at the same stage in their respective seasons following promotion (14).
  • Augsburg's current tally of 12 points from 10 games is a new club best in the top-flight. Their previous record was set last season (10 points after 10 matchdays).
  • Just a quarter of SCP's goals have come in the first-half - proportionally, only Stuttgart have scored fewer before the break (21%). Paderborn and Wolfsburg are the only sides to have netted 12 second-half goals.
  • Augsburg are the league's best tacklers, winning 54% of their challenges.
  • 41.7% of the goals that FCA have conceded have come from set pieces (the same as Mainz) - only Bayern have shipped a higher percentage (66.7%). No side has conceded proportionally fewer goals from dead balls than Paderborn (15.4%).
  • SCP's last nine goals have been scored by nine different players.
  • Paderborn's no. 1 Lukas Kruse faces his former club, who he played for from February 2009 to June 2010. He only made four appearances for the then second-tier side, however.
  • The two coaches, FCA's Markus Weinzierl and SCP's Andre Breitenreiter, used to play together at SpVgg Unterhaching (first half of 2001/02).

TSG 1899 Hoffenheim v 1. FC Köln

  • After winning each of their first three BL games against Köln, Hoffenheim have failed to beat the Rhineland club in their last five top-flight meetings (D3, L2).
  • The two sides were promoted to the Bundesliga together in 2008/09. While Hoffenheim have remained in the top-flight ever since, Köln spent the last two seasons in the second tier after being relegated in 2011/12.
  • Hoffenheim suffered their first defeat of the season in Gladbach last weekend. Their new club record - TSG had never before gone unbeaten after the opening nine BL matchdays - therefore came to an end.
  • Köln have failed to score in their last two games in all competitions and have now been waiting 241 minutes of competitive football for a goal. They have failed to find the back of the net in six BL games this season, a joint-high (along with Hamburg).
  • Only HSV (4) have scored fewer league goals than the Billy Goats this season (7, the same as Hannover). The only time Köln scored fewer goals after 10 games was in 2009/10 (6, also just 7 in 2001/02).
  • Hoffenheim are unbeaten in their last nine home games - only Gladbach and Wolfsburg are currently on longer runs (both 10 games). Should TSG pick up at least a point against Köln, they would equal their club record of 10 successive home matches without defeat (from 2008/09 and 2011/12).
  • With seven points and a goal difference of +1, Köln are the third-best away side this season - only Wolfsburg (7 points, +3 goal difference) and Gladbach (8 points) have been better.
  • Hoffenheim have scored just two goals from set pieces (the same as Hannover) - only Hamburg (1) and upcoming opponents Köln (0) have netted fewer goals from dead balls.
  • TSG's Tobias Strobl was on loan at Köln in 2012/13 and made 24 competitive appearances for the Billy Goats.
  • Hoffenheim are on the brink of scoring their 100th BL goal under manager Markus Gisdol (98 goals in 51 games so far).
  • Anthony Modeste has scored in three of Hoffenheim's last four competitive games and, with six goals to his name in all competitions, is TSG's top scorer together with Sven Schipplock.

Eintracht Frankfurt v FC Bayern München

  • Frankfurt have only won one of their 13 competitive meetings with Bayern since March 2007 (D2, L10) and lost each of the last four. Their only win came in the league in March 2010 (2-1).
  • Eintracht haven't scored against Bayern in 396 BL minutes - their last goalscorer against the record champions was current FCB player Sebastian Rode, who netted in a 1-1 draw in April 2011. Bayern have scored 10 goals against Frankfurt since then.
  • FC Bayern extended their gap over Dortmund to a whopping 17 points courtesy of their victory in last weekend's meeting. FCB haven't been as far ahead of BVB after 10 games since the introduction of the three-points-per-win system.
  • Bayern have won just one of their last four away games (2-0 at Köln, otherwise 3 draws). However, FCB have only lost one of their last 40 BL matches on the road (W32, D7) - a 1-0 defeat in Augsburg in early April.
  • Frankfurt have lost their last four competitive fixtures. That last happened a year ago, when the Eagles also suffered four defeats on the trot between October and November.
  • FCB have scored just three away goals in four games - only Hamburg, Hannover (both 1) and Augsburg (2) have scored fewer. Bayern have only scored as few away goals at this stage of the season twice before: In 1985/86 (also 3) and in 2010/11 (2).
  • The last time Eintracht conceded 19 goals or more in their opening 10 BL games was in 1995/96 (23) - that season ended in their first ever Bundesliga relegation.
  • Frankfurt have the third-best attack in the league together with Leverkusen (both 17 goals scored) - only Bayern (23) and Wolfsburg (20) have netted more goals. However, only Bremen (24) and Stuttgart (23) have conceded more goals than Eintracht (19, the same as Hertha).
  • Bayern's Mario Götze and Frankfurt's Alexander Meier have scored six goals each and lead the Bundesliga goalscoring charts together with Mainz's Shinji Okazaki and Bremen's Franco Di Santo.
  • Following his goal in Bayern's 2-1 win over Dortmund last week, Robert Lewandowski is the only player to have scored a top-flight goal against each of the current Bundesliga clubs.

Sport-Club Freiburg v FC Schalke 04

  • Freiburg have recorded 11 top-flight wins against Schalke (the same as against Kaiserslautern) - they haven't won more often against any other team. However, S04 have lost just one of their last six BL away games against SCF (W4, D1).
  • Schalke have won their last three BL meetings with Freiburg, scoring two goals each time - they have never recorded four successive victories over SCF. Sport-Club have always won the fourth encounter following three wins on the spin for the Royal Blues.
  • Just like last season, which they ended in third place, Schalke have 14 points on the board after 10 BL games. The Royal Blues were seventh back then - they're currently eighth. Nevertheless, it's S04's best position so far this season.
  • Only bottom of the table Bremen (2) have collected fewer points at home than Freiburg (3). Hertha (1) are the only side to have picked up fewer points on the road than Schalke (3).
  • Freiburg were the last side to record their first victory of the season, finally winning 1-0 away to Köln on matchday 10. Their first win didn't arrive until matchday 11 in 2013/14 (3-0 at Nürnberg). Interestingly, both of those wins came on 2nd November.
  • Ever since beating Gladbach 4-2 in April, SCF have gone five home games without a win and have failed to score in three of those matches. No other BL team has been waiting as long for a win on home soil.
  • Freiburg have scored six of their nine goals this season from set-pieces - proportionally a league high (67%). SCF's last four goals have all come from dead balls (3 penalties, 1 direct free kick).
  • Goalkeepers Roman Bürki (624) and Ralf Fährmann (545) have both had the second-most touches of the ball at their respective clubs this season.
  • Klaas-Jan Huntelaar, who has scored three of Schalke's last four BL goals, is S04's top scorer in all competitions in 2014/15, having netted seven goals. The Dutchman has provided a third of the Royal Blues' competitive goals (7 of 21).
  • Vladimir Darida has scored three of Freiburg's last four goals, with each of them coming from the penalty spot. Only Augsburg's Paul Verhaegh has netted as many spot-kicks this season.
  • Dennis Aogo made 98 competitive appearances for SCF between 2004 and 2008, scoring 13 goals in the process. He also made his Bundesliga debut while at Freiburg.

SV Werder Bremen v VfB Stuttgart

  • VfB haven't won any of their last six late Saturday kick-offs (D2, L4) - their last win in that timeslot was over three years ago, when they won 3-2 in Gladbach in February 2011.
  • Werder Bremen have lost just one of their last seven BL meetings with Stuttgart (W2, D4) - a heavy 4-1 defeat away from home in April 2012.
  • Stuttgart's last BL win in Bremen came eight years ago - a 3-2 victory at the Weserstadion on 16th September 2006, despite trailing 2-0 (VfB goals from Hilbert, Pardo and Gomez)
  • Werder may have recorded their first BL win of the season last weekend (2-1 in Mainz), but they remain bottom of the table for the fourth successive matchday.
  • Bremen (24) and Stuttgart (23) have conceded the most goals in the league. Only Werder and BVB are yet to keep a clean sheet in 2014/15.
  • VfB's current tally of 23 goals conceded is their highest ever after 10 BL matchdays - their previous record was 21 at the same stage in the 1969/70 campaign.
  • Bremen have been waiting six months for a home win - their last victory in the Weserstadion came courtesy of a 2-0 win over Hertha BSC on 3rd May.
  • Werder went behind for the 10th time in their 10th BL game of the season last weekend in Mainz - Bremen are the only side to have come from behind to get something from a match on five occasions and they are also the only team to have collected seven points from losing positions (W1, D4).
  • Franco Di Santo was the match-winner in Mainz, netting his first BL brace - the Argentine has now scored more goals in 2014/15 (6, a joint-league best together with Götze, Meier and Okazaki) than he did in the whole of last season (4 in 23 games).
  • Just like Thomas Schaaf, Viktor Skripnik has won his first two competitive games as Werder coach. His predecessor Robin Dutt lost on his Bremen debut (3-1 defeat to Saarbrücken in the DFB Cup).

VfL Wolfsburg v Hamburger SV

  • Wolfsburg haven't lost any of their last six BL games against HSV (W2, D4). The last Hamburg win dates back to the 2010/11 season, when they beat VfL 1-0 away from home.
  • However, HSV have lost just one of their last five away games against the Wolves (W2, D2) - the last two meetings in Wolfsburg have ended in 1-1 draws.
  • There may have been 13 draws in the 34 BL meetings between the sides, but never a 0-0.
  • Wolfsburg are the only side to have won their last five games. The last time the Wolves recorded more than five BL victories in a row within a season was in their title-winning season (10 straight wins between February and April 2009) - it's the first time that manager Dieter Hecking has overseen a run of five BL wins on the spin.
  • VfL are unbeaten in their last 10 BL home games (W7, D3). The last time that happened came in 2008/09 - that run actually went on for 20 home games across multiple seasons (May 2008 until August 2009).
  • Hamburg have collected seven points from their last four games - HSV picked up just two points from their first six matches this season. For the first time since matchday 1, Hamburg are not occupying one of the bottom three places in the table.
  • 20 points after 10 games is the second-best start in VfL's club history - they have won more points at this stage only once before, in 2004/05 (21, they ended that campaign in 9th place).
  • Hamburg have scored just four goals in their first 10 games and have equalled Eintracht Frankfurt's all-time record low goal tally at this stage of a campaign (1970/71). They also have the league's worse shooting accuracy (32%) and a low clear-cut-chance-conversion rate (29%, 17th).
  • Wolfsburg's Kevin De Bruyne has provided the most assists (7, no one else has more than 3) and shot assists (40, no one else has more than 26) in the league and had a hand in three goals in one game for the first time in his BL career in the 4-0 win over Stuttgart.
  • Heiko Westermann could make his 300th BL appearance. Only six currently active BL players have more top-flight games under their belt than the HSV defender.
  • HSV's Pierre-Michel Lasogga (2008/09, youth) and Petr Jiracek (second half of 2011/12), as well as Wolfsburg's Ivica Olic (January 2007 - summer 2009) are all set to face their former club in this match.

Borussia Dortmund v Borussia Mönchengladbach

  • Dortmund haven't won any of their last three games against Gladbach, most recently suffering back-to-back defeats. BVB have never lost more than 3 BL matches in a row against the Foals, with their last three-game losing streak coming between December 1980 and September 1981.
  • Gladbach won their last game in Dortmund 2-1 (March 2014), but BVB's seven previous home games vs. the Foals all ended in victory, part of a 12-game unbeaten run (W10, D2).
  • Dortmund have just seven points on the board after 10 games - an all-time low for the club in the BL. In their previous 47 top-flight campaigns (converted to the 3-points-per-win system where applicable), BVB have always had at least nine points at this stage.
  • No BL side has ever finished higher than eighth after picking up seven points or fewer from their opening 10 games (converted to the 3-points-per-win system where applicable).
  • Only one second-from-bottom side after 10 BL matchdays has ever finished higher than ninth: TSV 1860 München remarkably went on to be runners-up in 1966/67.
  • The last time BVB were in a direct-relegation spot at a later point than on matchday 2 was in the 2006/07 season (17th after 27 matchdays).
  • Gladbach are unbeaten after 10 BL matchdays for the third time in their BL history. They ended up winning the title in both 1970/71 and 1976/77.
  • BVB have lost each of their last five BL games, something which last happened in March/April 2000, when they set a club record by losing six straight matches.
  • Dortmund have collected just one point from their last seven games (6 defeats). No other BL side has currently been waiting as long for a victory in the top flight as BVB.
  • BVB have lost more games than any other BL team this season (7). Of their previous six campaigns under Jürgen Klopp, 2009/10 is the only one where Dortmund have ended with more defeats to their name (9) than they have suffered after just 10 games in 2014/15.
  • This will be Lucien Favre's 200th game as a Bundesliga manager.
  • Marco Reus, who played 97 BL games for Gladbach from 2009-12, scoring 36 goals and assisting 20 more, has had a hand in both of BVB's goals since returning from injury (1 goal, 1 assist), as well as 48% of his side's shots in those games.
