Centre backs the only question marks for England?

After England outplayed current World Cup favourites, the main question raised was who will fill the centre back roles when the Three Lions roll into Brazil and William Hill currently think that Gary Cahill and Phil Jones lead the race. Cahill is 4/11 to start England's first match in Brazil, while Jones is 5/4 although they are closely followed by Phil Jagielka at 7/4 and Joleon Lescott at 5/2.

The absence of Rio Ferdinand and John Terry has opened the door for a number of players to stake a claim, although Britain's biggest bookmaker is offering odds of 12/1 and 16/1 respectively that Ferdinand and Terry start England's first match of the World Cup.

Following Frank Lampard's winner against Brazil, England and Chelsea fans have been singing the praise of the midfield maestro and it appears that Chelsea may be on the verge of offering him a new deal. He is 8/11 now to be at Chelsea on the first day of next season (in from 13/8 on Wednesday night).

One of the games of the weekend sees the rejuvenated Newcastle taking on Spurs and William Hill offer 6/1 that it is the highest scoring match of the weekend and 5/4 that the first goal of the game is scored by one of Newcastle's French contingent.
