Citizens to get another big score in Cardiff – Betting Preview

If Manuel Pellegrini were to have picked the opening fixtures for his tenure in charge of Man City (4/9), then Newcastle, Cardiff (6/1, draw 17/5), Hull and Stoke would've been up there with opponents to face before the eagerly anticipated derby with United at the end of September.

The Chilean's first match in charge could not have gone any better as they thrashed the hapless Geordies 4-0, and it could've been more, he'll be more than happy with a narrow win in Wales no doubt but it looks like they could dish out another hiding.

Spaniard Jesus Navas (16/1 FGS, 10/3 AGS) was one of their star performers last Monday, and he will be in for a good challenge up against his old teammate Gary Medel (50/1, 8/1). The Chilean picked up 11 cards last season in just 32 appearances, unlike Navas he's probably not a great option for your fantasy team!

Talking of cards, the over 45 total booking points at 21/10 looks appealing when you consider that the Welsh outfit picked up their fair share of yellows and reds last season, and I can imagine some late challenges going in when the likes of David Silva (9/1, 9/4) and Sergio Aguero (9/2, 10/11) have zipped past a defender's flailing leg.

Argentine ace Aguero is who we base our offer around for this Sunday afternoon clash - it is 7/4 the former Atletico Madrid hitman strikes in an away win, whereas you can get a whopping 14/1 that Andreas Cornelius (12/1, 10/3) pounces in a home win.

They missed the big Dane last weekend in their defeat at West Ham, but in fairness to Cardiff over the years their strength has been playing as a team and not relying on a certain individual.

Last season they didn't have a single player in the top 10 scorers or assists tables, and nobody managed to reach double figures; incredible stats for a team that sauntered to the title.

You imagine they'll need a regular scorer this time around though; when you consider the likes of Christian Benteke and Steven Fletcher at Aston Villa and Sunderland last season - that sort of player who can regularly hit the back of the net can be the difference between survival and relegation.

Of course Man City have no such worries when it comes to finding players to hit the back of the net.

Edin Dzeko (11/2, 5/4) was their top league scorer last season but started less than half of their games, he will want to improve those figures for sure but with Alvaro Negredo (9/2, 10/11) and Stevan Jovetic (13/2, 7/4) arriving that won't be easy.

It is these attacking options that all point to a convincing away victory - the handicap odds of Man City -1 at 23/20 look fantastic to me, and even more daring is -2 at 3/1, surely worth a few quid if City find their feet early in the game.

Indeed the Blues starting early is something that isn't unusual, last season they scored six goals in the first 15 minutes of Premier League games, we go 3/1 that they manage that against the red Bluebirds as part of our special Opta Offer.

One player that will be looking to prove a point is Craig Bellamy (16/1, 7/2), the Welsh ace was always a consistent performer during his time at Eastlands and he likes nothing better than ruffling a few feathers.
