France the next hurdle on Ireland's way to the World Cup

Eight teams yet have a chance to grab one of the last four places in South Africa's 2010 World Cup.

The draw held at FIFA headquarters in Zurich this morning decided the fixtures for the European Qualfication Play-offs which can be viewed below.

As the top four countries in the draw, according to the current FIFA/Coca-Cola World Rankings, France, Portugal, Russia and Greece were drawn from Pot 1 to face either Ukraine, the Republic of Ireland, Bosnia-Herzegovnia or Slovenia.

Ireland will face 2006 World Cup runner-up France at home in the 1st leg on 14 November before travelling to Paris a few days later. The Irish are 10/3 to eliminate France who are the 1/5 favourites of the two to reach South Africa.
