Liverpool go top but drift in the betting
Liverpool were held 0-0 by West Ham at home in Monday night's Premier League clash.
The shared points put Liverpool at the top of the Premier League and gained the Hammers their first point at Anfield for nine years. But it was not only the Kop faithful that were unimpressed by their team's performance.
Despite going a point clear above Chelsea at the top of the table Liverpool have drifted in the Premier League betting. Prior to the weekend they were available at 7/2 but were cut to 3/1 when Chelsea lost to Arsenal on Sunday afternoon. Following another goalless at Anfield, the second in 10 days, Liverpool are now at odds of 4/1 to win the Premier League.
Chelsea are still favourites at even money in the betting having drifted from 8/11 following their defeat by the Gunners at Stamford Bridge.
Manchester United, third in the league, can now be backed at 15/8 to retain their Premier League title having been 11/4 before their 1-0 away win against local rivals Manchester City. United are six points off the league leaders but importantly have a game in hand.
If the win at Chelsea has stopped the rot in Arsenal's recent poor run then you'll regret not taking a piece of the 33/1 available last week but they are still 16/1 to win the league. The eight points that they are adrift is far from unsurmountable with more than half the season to go.
