Mourinho's men to lay Inter Siena
Top versus bottom in any league is usually a simple one to call and this game looks no different as Serie A leaders Inter Milan take on hopeless rock-bottom Siena at the Stadio Giuseppe Meazza on Saturday night.
Inter Milan (1/5) have an eight point lead over rivals AC Milan in the league and they look on course to secure an unprecedented fifth consecutive Serie A title. The match price is short, this result looks as nailed on as any match in history. Not only are Inter Milan unbeaten at home in the league this year they have the best goal difference on home turf, it is hard to see past anything other than a Inter rout.
Siena (11/1) are experiencing quite a different season. Stuck to the bottom of the league, four points from safety and without an away league win since August - a trip to the top of the league is the last thing the Bianconeri need.
In team news, Inter lost defender Cristian Chivu to a fractured skull in the last match and the already threadbare squad is on the light side. Other big names missing from the team sheet include the departed Patrick Vieira to Man City, Mauro Balotelli is banned, Samuel Eto'o is at the Africa Cup of Nations and Sulley Muntari and Esteban Cambiasso are injured. Looking at this you would think the result might be in question but such is the quality of the squad they still have enough.
Top scorer Diego Milito should line up and is best bet to bag the first goal at 5/2 while recent acquisition Goran Pandev is 3/1. Set piece specialist Wesley Sneijder is always a threat at 4/1 first but the anytime market at evens looks a bit more promising.
Looking at Siena's team there aren't too many selection headaches which is one positive. A couple of quick mentions are Luca Rossettini and Francesco Parravicini sitting out with injuries and striker Abdelkader Ghezzal is on Africa Cup of Nations duty.
The key man for Siena has to be ex-Middlesbrough frontman Massimo Maccarone. Most of you non-hardcore Serie A fans probably know this man for his hand in Middlesbrough's comebacks en-route to the 2006 UEFA Cup final. Big Mac is holding his own in the Italian league though, currently Siena's top scorer with six. The 11/1 for first scorer or 4/1 anytime all look fair, if Siena are to score - it's most likely to be through him.
A slight glimmer of hope for Siena might come from looking at a particular result last season. Inter were top as usual and they played Torino, rock bottom just like Siena. The match ended 1-1 (8/1 here) and Torino nearly won so if you think Siena might nick a draw you can get 9/2 or cover both Siena and the draw at 11/4.
Betting on this match myself, I looked at how I could bet on the likely outcome of Inter but also getting some fair prices at the same time. The double result is where I started, Inter to be winning at half time and then full time is 4/6. Handicaps are always a great way to get a decent price and -1 on Inter here is 3/4 here which again gives a good price. If you are as confident as a big win as I am you might be tempted to try Inter -2 at 21/10.
My prediction here is Inter to win 3-0 which is 11/2; you've got to expect them to get through this test even with a weakened side in relative comfort. For a bit of a punt why not try Inter to win by 4 or more goals at 5/1.
