Tuesday's Champions League Preview

We have Champions League football on Tuesday night, Leverkusen take on Barcelona and Lyon play the Cypriot side Apoel.

Barcelona will be desperate to land the Champions League title. Their hopes of capturing a fourth consecutive La Liga crown suffered a major setback at the weekend,  when they lost 3-2 to Osasuna, to leave Real Madrid seven points clear at the top with a game in hand.

Barca have struggled on the road all season and they may not fancy the freezing conditions in Germany. The Catalan giants are 4/9 to win in ninety minutes, the draw is 3/1 and the home win is 7/1.

Leverkusen are strong at home and they are 5/1 to win draw no bet. You can back them and the draw at 15/8 if you want to take on Barcelona. Barcelona are definitely fully focused on the European Cup, they rested their Spanish World Cup winners, Xavi and Iniesta at the weekend.

Barca made a string of errors at the weekend and both teams to score at 19/20 could be the bet. With six goals to his name, Messi is the joint-top scorer of the Champions League's group stages with Bayern's Mario Gomez.

The little Argentinean maestro is 5/2 to score the first goal and with all the talent on show, that seems too short. Bayer Leverkusen are bidding to reach the last eight of the Champions League for the first time since 2002. They lost at the weekend to Dortmund in the league and they only have one win in seven outings in all competitions.

The Match Winner is Xavi or Iniesta to score and Barcelona to win the match at 3/1, it has been enhanced from 2/1! You could see how much the Catalan giants missed the pair at the weekend, they both take set-pieces and the Match Winner looks value!

The other Champions League match pitches Lyon against Apoel. The French side are 4/9 to win the clash, the draw is 3/1 and an away win is 7/1. Lyon suffered a shock loss at home in the league at the weekend against Caen.

Remi Garde's side missed the chance to go third but they will fancy themselves against the Cypriot side. If you think that there will be another shock result, Apoel are 9/2 draw no bet and 17/10 to win or draw.

Apoel have been this season's surprise team in the Champions League but they will need to be resilient at the back to hold off Lyon. Apoel only scored six goals in their six group stage fixtures and you can back Lyon at 8/13 to keep a clean sheet.

If you fancy them to score, I'd back both teams to score at 6/5, that is a massive price, Lyon looked very vulnerable at the weekend against Caen.
