Tykes to wipe the smiles from Wednesday
Three days and two local derbies for Sheffield Wednesday. On Sunday, Wednesday faced United in the Steel City derby and now tonight they face South Yorkshire rivals Barnsley at Oakwell. Barnsley have been struggling a bit so far this season and heading into this match find themselves in the relegation zone. However it was only three matches ago that Barnsley played another South Yorkshire derby against Doncaster and that day they ran out 4-1 winners. Barnsley's main problem this season has been their away form where they are winless, but at home they have a respectable if not spectacular record. Meanwhile most of Wednesday's best performances have been saved for their home faithful at Hillsbrough with just one of their five wins coming on the road. Therefore the 8/5 about the Tykes cannot be ignored.
Tuesday also sees Reading host Doncaster in what should be a home banker. Reading have a perfect home record whilst Rovers have only won once on the road, the 2/5 for a Reading victory may be short but it still looks great value.
Birmingham host Crystal Palace at St. Andrews on Tuesday and the Blues should be backed at 7/10 despite their recent inconsistent form. They have been short of goals despite all the riches at Alex McLeish's disposable, but that is not a great worry as City also possess a good defence with just one goal conceded at home so far.
A treble on these three matches gives you odds of just over 5/1 and that looks like more great value offered by William Hill.
