Wednesday 5/4 To Be Lowest Team Left In Cup... Costa Del Chelsea... Cole Odds On To Be Dumped By Hodgson
Sheffield Wednesday are the 5/4 favourites to be the lowest ranked side to make it into the quarter finals of the FA Cup. Their last major trophy came back in 1991, winning the League Cup with a 1-0 victory over Manchester United, courtesy of a John Sheridan wonder-strike. They beat the Blades, their local rivals, in the 1993 FA Cup semi-final at Wembley, with an equally impressive free-kick form Owls legend Chris Waddle. Mark Bright wrapped things up for Wednesday in the dying minutes of extra-time. Sheffield United, still smarting from that result some 21 years on, are 7/4 to be the lowest team left in, while Wednesday’s opponents, Charlton are 21/10.
It is rumoured that Thibault Courtois could be used as makeweight to move Atletico Madrid forward, Diego Costa to Stamford Bridge over the summer. It is 3/1 that the Brazilian/Spanish striker makes the switch to Chelsea in the summer.
“Diego Costa is very much in demand and should he lead the Spanish line well during the World Cup, there is every chance his value will increase and so if Chelsea do want him, they could well have to strike a deal sooner rather than later,” said William Hill spokesman Joe Crilly.
There is much consternation in the Ashley Cole camp that his lack of game time for Chelsea could impact negatively on his chances of playing at the World Cup this summer. He is 11/10 to start England’s first match of the World Cup while Leighton Baines is 4/6 with Luke Shaw 20/1.
