Wolves v Man City Preview
Wolverhampton v Manchester City
English Premier League
Sunday 16:00 - live on Sky Sports 1
Match betting: Wolves 11/1 Draw 9/2 Man City 1/4
Roberto Mancini's Manchester City travel to Molineux with the pressure on to keep the title race alive ahead of the Manchester Derby on the 30th of April. Compatriots Carlos Tevez and Sergio Aguero inspired a return to form for the Citizens and their destruction of Norwich has seen their odds shorten for the Wolves encounter. 11/1 about the Wolves win on home soil is a big price, however, the bottom of the league side have lost their last eight matches at Molineux, a club record. If QPR get a result against Spurs then a ninth defeat in-a-row would signify relegation for the west Midlands club and would be a sad sight to see Terry Connor deal with that burden.
Since taking over from Mick McCarthy the interim manager is winless and has only taken two points from nine games. However with the pressure fully on their opponents Connor is hopeful that his players can remain competitive and take away a surprise result.
The Manchester United game against Everton (12:30 kick-off) will have a huge bearing on Mancini's boys. A United win against the Toffees, one of the form teams in the EPL, would give The Reds a massive eight point advantage over City and could potentially set up a title decider at the Etihad Stadium the following weekend. Man City are out to 4/1 to clinch the Premier League title whilst Alex Ferguson's United side are big odds-on favourites at 1/7. However after United's slip up against relegation threatened Wigan, it's not unconceivable that Everton could cause problems for the 19-time Champions at Old Trafford.
Argentine Carlos Tevez looks set to start, the disruptive star has struck four goals in his first two starts since rejoining the squad including a hat-trick in last week's 6-1 hammering of Norwich. He is the 9/4 favourite about netting the first at Molineux and is as short as 1/2 to be an anytime scorer.
If Wanderers are to get anything out of this game then for me Kevin Doyle is the main man to unlock City's experienced back-line. Heavily linked with clubs like Man U and Arsenal in the not too distant past Doyle will be looking to sign off from the 2012 season in style. 16/1 for the first and 6/1 anytime represent value for a top-class Premier League striker.
Manchester City's mentality going into this fixture will be to firstly win and secondly to improve their goal difference tally in the league. Goals could be the order of the day and over 3.5 total goals @ 21/20 along with ManCity -2 goals at 29/20 are the markets to focus on here.
It's a toss-up in the Both Teams To Score market with 10/11 about the YES & NO markets. I would be tempted to side with the YES and fancy Wolves to get on the scoresheet on Sunday.
