New Kid On The Block To Be GB’s Secret Weapon?
18 year old Adam Gemili sprinted to the top of the British 100m standings in Germany at the weekend, doing his chances of qualifying for the Olympics no harm at all and William Hill are offering Even money that he qualifies to run in the individual event in London this summer. As things stand, Dwain Chambers is out of the top two, but Hills think that by the time the British trials have taken place at the end of June, parity will be restored, with Chambers 4/9 to make the individual 100m team.
Gemili is 250/1 to win the 100m in London, with 50/1 available to win a medal of any colour and 25/1 to win gold in any future Olympic Games.
"Adam looks an incredibly hot prospect and at 18 could certainly be one for the future," said Hill's spokesman Joe Crilly. "We don't hold out too much hope for him, however, this time around, should he qualify."
