Ashton dives into Sports Personality Of The Year reckoning
Chris Ashton has been slashed from 33/1 to 20/1 with William Hill to win this year's BBC Sports Personality Of The Year following his four try haul against Italy at the weekend.
He is apparently to be dragged over the hot coals once more following his swallow dive, however, Hills are offering Even money that he attempts the celebration against France and 25/1 that he drops the ball while showboating.
England are the 8/11 favourites to win this year's Six Nations following two wins but France are hot on their tails and they are the 11/8 second favourites with Hills.
Hills make England 9/1 fourth favourite to win the Rugby World Cup behind New Zealand (8/11), Australia (4/1) and South Africa (6/1).
"A Six Nations victory alone will surely not be enough to win Ashton the Sports Personality but he finds himself in the position of being England's talisman, much like Johnny Wilkinson was in 2003," said Hill's spokesman Joe Crilly. "Should England do well in New Zealand the award could well be Ashton's for the taking."
