Cheltenham Festival, the return of F1, and much more - March Sports Preview

As the 2013 sporting calendar reaches full heat, a wide range of sport hits our screens, with the Cheltenham Festival and Formula One taking centre stage.

The month begins with the William Hill Scottish Cup reaching the quarter-final stage, as Celtic look to take vengeance on St Mirren after their Scottish League Cup semi-final defeat last month, whilst a Dundee derby presents an intriguing clash on Sunday 3rd. A week later, the FA Cup returns with Barnsley's trip to 2011 winner Manchester City, whilst last season's winners Chelsea must overcome a tricky tie at Middlesbrough if they are to travel to Old Trafford in the last quarter-final of the round.

On Tuesday 5th, the first Test match in England's tour of New Zealand gets under way, and after winning both the Twenty20 and ODI series 2-1, can the visitors take victory in all three tests in the series.

The Champions League Round of 16 continues with all eight ties culminating across a week, including Real Madrid's return trip to Old Trafford after an entertaining 1-1 draw in Spain. Barcelona host AC Milan after a shock defeat in their first leg, whilst Celtic and Arsenal look to overturn heavy home defeats on their travels to Juventus and Bayern Munich respectively.

In a big month of sport across the pond, Florida hosts both the WGC CA Championship in the golf world, whilst the world's best tennis players descend upon Miami towards the end of the month after the first Masters tournament in Indian Wells, California.

In the horse racing calendar reaches us, the 2m Handicap Hurdle Imperial Cup will likely see AP McCoy go for his fifth win in the listed race at Sandown. However, the world of racing turns its attentions to the Cheltenham Festival the following week, with the Champion Hurdle and Gold Cup topping a great list of Grade 1 races. The month ends with high class racing as the William Hill Lincoln Handicap at Doncaster, which acts as a prelude to the Goldolphin-dominated Dubai World Cup at Meydan.

Whilst the domestic football seasons really heats up, Hampden Park hosts the Scottish League Cup Final as St Mirren, making their first appearance in a cup final since a deflating 1-0 loss to Rangers in 2010, take on Hearts, winners of last season's premier Scottish cup competition. The month's football is rounded off by a World Cup Qualifying double header, which sees England travel to San Marino and Montenegro, knowing wins will see them go top of Group H.

The glitz and glamour of the world of Formula One returns as ever at Albert Park in Melbourne, before a quick turnaround sees them take to the Sepang track in Malaysia. After his move to Mercedes, will Lewis Hamilton be a contender this season, or will Ferrari finally return to the F1 pinnacle after Red Bull's recent domination?

Elsewhere, the Sixways Stadium in Worcester hosts the final of the Anglo-Welsh Cup, and whilst the semi-finals see Quins take on Bath and Sale face Saracens, an all-English final is guaranteed, but who will life the trophy? On the baize, the penultimate World Ranking tournament takes place in Beijing, as the world's best snooker players look to take the China Open honours before heading to the Crucible a month later.

We continue to offer a wide range of markets across all sports, and with one of the most exciting month's in recent memory upon us soon, stay with William Hill - the Home of Betting.
