Shock after Johnson quits England job, who's next?
Martin Johnson's decision to quit as England coach has come as a massive surprise for both William Hill and their customers.
This morning Hills were offering 11/4 that Johnson would quit before the Six Nations and did not take a bet of over £10 on him going.
Hills rate Jim Mallinder their 5/2 favourite to replace Martin Johnson, with Nick Mallett 4/1 and Jake White 10/1.
Hills make Tom Wood and Dylan Hartly their 9/2 joint favourites to be named the next England captain, whilst Tom Croft is 5/1.
England are now 11/4 from 5/2 to win the Six Nations.
Rob Andrew could well find his position is now in jeopardy and he is odds on at 1/2 to have left his position as RFU Elite Rugby Director before January 1st 2012.
"Johnson's resignation has come as a real surprise as almost every bet we have taken has suggested he would stick it out. Jim Mallinder is the early frontrunner for the job but our odds suggest the successor may be in for a wait as Rob Andrew's role looks less than secure," said Hill's spokesman Rupert Adams.
