Championship League Snooker – Group Three

Championship League snooker returns to betliveTV on Monday with group three from this year's tournament.

Group two saw Northern Irishman Mark Allen beat last year's tournament winner Joe Perry in the final. Allen now joins Mark Selby, winner of group one, in the winners' group, but who will join them from group three?

The four players who carry over from the last group are Perry, seasoned Championship League campaigner Ali Carter, two-time World Champion Mark J Williams and the table-topper of the first two groups Ding Junhui. Ding has dominated the group stages in both groups one and two but each time he has not progressed to the final as he has been defeated in the semi-final on each occasion.

Joining these four top quality players are three more stars from the world of snooker - Scotland's John Higgins who has won the World Championship twice, Australian Neil Robertson and Englishman Barry Hawkins.

All of the players are of course chasing the lucrative prize of a place in next year's Premier League which awaits the winner of the winners' group. But this week is also an ideal chance for these players to get in some key match practice ahead of the Welsh Open which starts on 16th February.

Held at Crondon Park Golf Club in Essex, each group is played over two days of fast and furious snooker, with each match the best of four frames - which, interestingly, brings the draw into play. Each player will play the others once; the top four in the table will go into the best-of-five semi-finals, where the eventual winner progresses to the winners' group, to be held 25-26 March. The losing finalist, two losing semi-finalists and the player ranked fifth all get another chance in the next group, where they're joined by three new professionals.
