25/1 Queen to announce Wills and Kate are expecting
On Christmas Day, the Queen will deliver her traditional address to the nation with bookmakers, William Hill, predicting the focus of her speech will centre around the Duke and Duchess of Cambridge.
She is 1/10 to mention the wedding and 25/1 to announce that the Royal couple are expecting a baby in 2012.
Should William and Kate's first child arrive in 2012, there will be many a happy Hills punter as the firm have taken nearly eight times as many bets on next year being the year of birth than any other year. Hills offer 10/11 for a boy, with the same price on the first born being a girl. William & Kate are 33/1 to have twins.
"For many families The Queen's Speech is a Christmas tradition and it is usually quite easy to predict some of the things that she will say," said Hill's spokesman Joe Crilly. "She may well catch everybody off-guard, however, by announcing the arrival of a new Royal in the New Year."
Hills offer 11/10 that over 9 million people tune in to hear her deliver her message this year, which could include mention of the Olympic Games (1/10), Afghanistan (1/6) and Australia (8/11).
