Bookies say ' Thanks a million Jedward'
The bookmaking Industry in the UK cleaned up on Saturday night after both Jedward & Blue failed to land the Eurovision Song Contest.
Hills estimate that the industry won over one and a half million pounds as a result of their failure with Hills alone winning a six figure sum. Jedward's decision to take part has backfired and Hills have slashed the price of them breaking up from 33/1 to 16/1, whilst Blue are out to 8/1 (from 3/1) to have a UK number one.
Despite failing to win Hills felt that the UK received points from an astonishing number of countries and for the first time in years believe that the UK could win the contest again. A UK victory in 2012 is a 12/1 shot, with a UK victory before the end of 2020 a 6/4 shot. Hills offer 8/1 that Simon Cowell become involved in picking our entry in 2012.
"We will be raising a glass to Jedward and literally saying 'Thanks A Million'. 2011 has seen a record turnover and after a decade in the Eurovision wilderness, we now feel that the UK are a genuine contender to claim the title in the next few years!" said Hill's spokesman Rupert Adams.
