Rebecca dives in front as Lewis drifts
It's all change at the top of the betting for the 2008 BBC Sports Personality of the Year as Rebecca Adlington goes favourite for the event taking place on Sunday, 14 December.
Twice a gold medal winner in the Beijing Olympics this summer, Rebecca Adlington is now the 5/6 favourite to win the BBC's annual award displacing former long-time favourite Lewis Hamilton.
Adlington shot to stardom in the 2008 Olympics winning gold medals in the Women's 400m and 800m freestyle. At just 19 years old she has become Britain's first Olympic swimming champion in her lifetime, the first Briton to win two swimming golds in 80 years making her Team GB's most successful Olympic swimmer for a century.
Let's not forget that she also broke a 19-year-old world record on her way to 800m gold.
Lewis Hamilton was as short as 1/2 last week to win the Sports Personality of the Year but is now a 6/4 shot to lift the coveted trophy. His Formula 1 Drivers' World Championship win this year, in just his second season in the sport, looked to be enough to follow the likes of Nigel Mansell and Damon Hill as Sports Personality winners in their Championship winning years.
William Hill are offering betting odds on the BBC Sports Personlaity of the Year and also the other awards dished out on the evening.
Usain Bolt, the 100m and 200m World Record holder and Olympic gold medalist, is the 1/3 favourite for the Overseas Sports Personality of the Year. American swimmer Michael Phelps is at 5/2 following his amazing eight gold medal haul in Beijing.
