Sergeant goes AWOL
John Sergeant has pulled out of the BBC's Strictly Come Dancing.
Many feel the political broadcaster should have already been long gone as his dancing has not been up to scratch but it was entertainment value, and the Great British voting public, that have kept him in. If you haven't had the pleasure of seeing his silky moves then take a look at the video at the end of this article.
In a press statement last night Sergeant said: "It was always my intention to have fun on the show and I was hoping to stay in as long as possible. The trouble is that there is now a real danger that I might win the competition. Even for me that would be a joke too far. I would like to thank Kristina and all those viewers who have been rooting for me through the series."
Indeed, it would have been a joke too far. Only a few days ago William Hill slashed his odds to win the show from 16/1 to 10/1 despite him still being the favourite to be eliminated at the weekend. That honour has now fallen to Jodie Kidd at 10/11 with Christine Bleakley (5/2) and Lisa Snowdon (7/2) behind her to be the 10th person eliminated.
