SPOTY: Bookies predict a 66/1 shock!

Bookmakers William Hill make Bradley Wiggins their 2/7 red hot favourite to win the 2012 Sports Personality of the Year with Mo Farah 13/2 and Jessica Ennis 7/1.

After analyzing the number of bets placed, however, a different story begins to emerge. Jessica Ennis has attracted the highest percentage of all bets placed with 17%, whilst Andy Murray is second with 13% and Bradley trailing in third on 12%.

That would suggest that Jess will pip Andy to the title although an Ennis - Murray first and second is a 66/1 shot.

"The odds suggest that Bradley has got the Sports Personality sewn up but in recent years only half of our favourites have won. Jess, Mo and Andy had extraordinary Olympics and you write them off at your peril," said William Hill spokesman Rupert Adams.

Percentage Of Bets Placed On Shortlist Contenders: 17% Jessica Ennis, 13% Andy Murray, 12% Bradley Wiggins, 10% Mo Farah, 6% Sir Chris Hoy

Top Three Finish: 1/33 Bradley Wiggins, 2/7 Jessica Ennis, 1/3 Mo Farah, 10/11 Andy Murray, 6/1 David Weir, 7/1 Ellie Simmonds, 25/1 Rory Mcllroy, 25/1 Sir Chris Hoy, 40/1 Ben Ainslie, 66/1 Kath Grainger, 66/1 Nicola Adams, 66/1 Sarah Storey
