Will Ben Affleck be a success as Batman?

Some diehard Batman fans have reacted with disbelief at the casting of Ben Affleck as the new caped crusader - but William Hill believes the film will be a massive hit.

Britain's biggest bookmaker is offering 1/4 it will be the highest grossing film of 2015 and just 6/1 it becomes the biggest grossing film of all time.

If you think Affleck will flop, then it is 5/2 that he's replaced for any sequel. His Good Will Hunting co-star Matt Damon is 25/1 to appear as Robin.

"Ben Affleck seems to be a marmite character and a number of film fans are clearly unhappy he'll be the new Batman. That said, he's still a big star and we think the movie will be an enormous success," said William Hill spokesman Rupert Adams.
