Women set to storm SPOTY - Mo getting backed too

The shortlist of the Sports Personality of the Year award in 2011 contained no women but 2012 looks a different story, with William Hill quoting 100/1 for a further blank.

It is 4/6 for there to be three women on the top ten shortlist and 66/1 for six or more as the girls proved they have what it takes.

That said, they will be doing well to beat the top two in the betting with Bradley Wiggins the 4/7 favourite and the man of the moment Mo Farah who is now the 2/1 second favourite.

"Team GB women delivered at the Olympics and it would be a serious shock if no women made the list this year. Mo is a man on the move and he could well become favourite in the next couple of weeks," said William Hill spokesman Rupert Adams.
