Dani Jackson’s Blog: Whirlwind to cook up a storm at Towcester

HARTON WHIRLWIND has quickly become the kennel star for the Drapers, and it’s easy to see why. After winning the BGBF British Bred Puppy Cup Final at Dunstall in July, he’s carried that momentum into this year’s Produce Stakes, winning two of the three rounds so far.
Returning from his Puppy Cup break, he was thrown straight into the action and showed exactly what he could do. Making all, he held off Singalong Cherry by just shy of a length to get his campaign off to a winning start.
Round two didn’t go his way, with Keefill Walker getting the better of him after leading early. But he bounced back in style in last week’s semi-final, producing a seriously impressive performance. Once again, he made all, winning by three and a half lengths in his quickest time to date at Towcester.
If he can break as sharply as he did last week, I can see him taking control of this field and making all once again. He’s also one of just two runners in the final to have gone sub-29 seconds, and his 28.64 puts him firmly among the class acts in the line-up.
I really like this lad. He’s shown speed, consistency and the ability to bounce back, and if he brings his best game to the final, I think he can win the Produce Stakes in impressive fashion.
