Champions League Odds: Predictions For Wednesday’s 2nd leg Play-Offs

A score draw in Bergamo looks good value at 7/2, whilst a 3-2 thriller in Turin can be backed at a huge 16/1 with William Hill.

@Footy_Tipster gives his best predictions ahead of this round of fixtures in the UEFA Champions League..

The UEFA Champions League returns this week with some of Europe’s biggest clubs looking to put themselves on their way to Budapest for the final in May.

Wednesday night’s UEFA Champions League action will get underway in Bergamo at 5.45pm, as Atalanta look to overturn a two goal deficit from the first leg against Borussia Dortmund.

Later in the evening, Benfica travel to Real Madrid having lost the first leg 1-0, It’s all still to play for as PSG and Monaco meet again in Paris, whilst Juventus have a mountain to climb when they welcome the visit of Galatasaray.

Now, let’s take a closer look at some Champions League odds and betting angles for Wednesday’s fixtures:

Atalanta v Borussia Dortmund – Wednesday, 5.45pm

Punters can bet on Atalanta v Borussia Dortmund with William Hill

  • Atalanta bounced back from their 2-0 defeat to Dortmund in the first leg with a 2-1 victory against Napoli on Sunday in Serie A, they’ve now won six of their last seven home games in all competitions, although their last defeat did come in this competition v Athletic Club (2-3).
  • Atalanta have lost their last three Champions League matches, they have never lost four successive matches in UEFA club competition history but they’ve been eliminated from their last four European knockout ties after losing the first leg, they are 19/5 to end that trend with William Hill and progress into the last sixteen.
  • In a game in which Atalanta need to win by at least two goals to keep their European dreams alive, head-to-head of this fixture doesn’t bode well for the Italian side having won none of their three competitive meetings (D1, L2).
    ——————————–
  • Borussia Dortmund followed up their first leg victory with a 2-2 draw at Leipzig in the Bundesliga on Saturday evening, Niko Kovač’s side had to come from two goals behind and left it late with a 95th minute equaliser but it extended their unbeaten run to five games now in all competitions (W4, D1).
  • Dortmund have won only one of their last eight UEFA away matches against Italian teams (D2 L5) but have triumphed in all ten of their previous UEFA two-legged ties in which they held a two-goal lead from the first leg, a draw in this one is priced up at 21/10 with the leading bookmaker.
  • Dortmund simply need to avoid defeat by two goals to progress into the last sixteen so seeing a more defensive display here in Bergamo wouldn’t come as a surprise, i’m backing a stalemate in this one.

Prediction: Both Teams To Score & Draw (7/2), Atalanta 1-1 Borussia Dortmund (11/2).

Juventus v GalatasarayWednesday, 8pm

Fancy Juventus to climb the mountain successfully? Back them to qualify with William Hill.

  • Things couldn’t have gone much worse for Juventus in their first leg v Galatasaray, they took a 2-1 lead in the first half but having lost the second half 4-0 and having to play with just ten players, the Old Lady have got it all to do in this one.
  • Winning by three goals is the absolute minimum for Juventus in this one but Luciano Spalletti’s side are in dismal form right now having won none of their last five games in all competitions (D1, L4) including a 2-0 defeat here against Como on Saturday, the Old Lady are 15/4 to win the tie.
  • Juventus have lost three of their 11 previous UEFA matches against Turkish opposition (W5 D3) but all three defeats were inflicted by Galatasaray. They are, however, unbeaten in their last five UEFA home matches against such teams (W3 D2), so this one will be interesting.
    ——————————–
  • Maybe the 5-2 victory in the first leg took it out of Galatasaray and they suffered just their second defeat of the season on Saturday away to Konyaspor, welcoming rivals Fenerbache back into the title race.
  • This is the first time that Galatasaray have made it past the UCL league/group phase since the 2013/2014 campaign, they’ve lost only three of their last eighteen UEFA matches against Italian teams (W8 D7) but have been eliminated in three of their previous four UEFA two-legged ties against them, you can back the Turkish side to score in both halves at 19/5 with William Hill.
  • Galatasaray have lost by three or more goals in just one of their last twenty-seven competitive away matches, whilst i think they lose this one they’ll be dangerous on the counter attack and should get themselves on the scoresheet.

Prediction: Both Teams to Score & Juventus To Win (8/5), Juventus 3-2 Galatasaray (16/1).
