Irish Greyhound Derby Tips: Quarter-finals Predictions
We have reached the quarter-finals stage of the 2026 Irish Greyhound Derby and a number of key contenders remain in the mix.
William Hill ambassador Dani Jackson reveals her picks at Shelbourne on Saturday evening.
Saturday, Shelbourne
The quarter-finals of the Irish Greyhound Derby are the highlight tonight in the greyhound world and I’m looking forward to seeing my NAP, Glengar Phantom (13/2), bolt from box five and make every yard as he did in the second round.
He didn’t trap quite as quickly last week and only snuck through in third, but I think the make-up of today’s race is perfect for him. He is the sole middle seed and if he traps with a 3.30-second split again then he should lead this field and bolt around the track.
He’s still only a puppy and regally bred as a son of Ballinabola Ed who reached the quarters of the English version twice in his superstar career. This lad only has four wins to his name so far, but he’s only raced fourteen times and is still a little raw.
He couldn’t be in better hands though with Pat Buckley who has won both the English and Irish Derby in the past. He’s in a hot quarter but I think this talented greyhound can bomb out the boxes and make all.
