British Grand Prix 2026 Predictions: Expect Thrills And Spills At Silverstone On Sunday

| BY Sam Cox

Attention turns to the British Grand Prix this weekend and William Hill News preview the big race at Silverstone ahead of a pivotal few days in the Formula 1 season.

The 2026 British Grand Prix is also the fourth sprint weekend of the year. As a result, there are additional points up for grabs, and spectators get two races for the price of one.

British Grand Prix Tips 2026:

  • Kimi Antonelli, George Russell & Lewis Hamilton All Top 3 Finish (13/8)
  • Hamilton Race Winner, Russell Top 3 Finish, Antonelli & Leclerc Both Top 6 Finish (17/2)
  • Arvid Lindblad top 10 finish (10/11)
  • British driver to win (Evens)
  • Max Verstappen to win each-way (11/2)

Championship leader Kimi Antonelli is the F1 betting favourite to stand atop the podium on Sunday afternoon, though he will face stern competition from a pair of Brits in George Russell and Lewis Hamilton.

Race Winner Odds

  • Kimi Antonelli – 13/8
  • George Russell – 5/2
  • Lewis Hamilton – 4/1
  • Max Verstappen – 11/2
  • Charles Leclerc – 15/2
  • Lando Norris – 18/1
  • Oscar Piastri – 25/1

Russell on Track

Winning in Austria got Russell back on track. It was his first race victory since the opening weekend of the season after watching his teammate amass a five-race winning streak during that period.

Tied with Antonelli on four poles apiece, Russell has the Saturday pace, but his Sunday’s have been riddled with misfortune. The British Grand Prix hasn’t traditionally been a happy weekend for Russell, though his Mercedes is well-positioned to make it eight Silver Arrows wins in nine races.

This promises to be a season-long fight for the title. Antonelli was close to Russell even with things not going his way in Austria, and his race craft has been mightily impressive given his lack of experience. The young Italian has finished on the podium in every race he’s completed.

Hamilton’s Hopes

Hamilton suffered a setback with a fifth-place finish in Austria, but the Brit will be delighted to return to Silverstone, where he’s won seven Grands Prix. The question, though, is whether the Ferraris can keep pace on a power-hungry track given Mercedes’ power-unit advantage.

The Scuderia have a great aero setup and might be able to carry speed through Silverstone’s quick corners better than the Mercedes. The setup is well-suited to Hamilton’s driving, and the way he’s extending his tyre life gives him a sizeable advantage over Charles Leclerc.

Hamilton has outperformed Leclerc in each of the last five races. He’s even outqualified his teammate in three of the last four.

Best Bets

It’s hardly a hot take to say the three favourites in the race winner market will finish on the podium, but there’s still value at a price of 13/8. Given Hamilton’s form and his mastery of Silverstone, the raw pace of the Mercedes is all that can stop him. Russell, Antonelli, and Hamilton are the three clear contenders and it wouldn’t be a surprise if they ended up having their own race with a sizeable margin out in front.

At a longer price of 17/2, we like backing Hamilton adding a second race win. Leclerc has been in a bit of a rut, but he’s got the race pace to be in contention for the podium. Russell’s confidence is sky-high. Antonelli will be in the top six at the very least barring a retirement.

The Racing Bulls have both finished in the top 10 in each of the last three races. Arvid Lindblad has reached Q3 in two of the last four races and looks like good value to make it four races with points in a row, despite underwhelming results in F2’s Silverstone races in 2025.

Red Bull’s upgrades made a major difference in Austria, leading to Max Verstappen finishing second.

Continuing to bemoan the regulations, Verstappen is pessimistic about the racing that will be possible at Silverstone as there will not be many opportunities to charge the battery, but with a stark improvement after their early-season struggles, the Dutchman is a decent each-way bet in the race winner market.
