Barney Army looking to cut The Power

Back in mid-December, 63 men and one woman set out with dreams of winning the PDC World Darts Championship. Just Phil Taylor and Raymond van Barneveld remain.

The two best players in the world will step up to the oche at 19:15 tonight, with one eye on the £125,000 winners' prize, and the other on history. Should The Power win, he'll secure his fourteenth world title; if Barney does the business, it'll be his sixth.

Taylor, perhaps unsurprisingly, is the odds-on favourite (as he has been the whole tournament) at 1/3. He's dropped only three sets en-route to the final out of the 28 he's played, and two of those were in last night's semi-final against Mervyn King.

Van Barneveld can be backed for the match at 9/4. When you consider his annihilation of fellow-Dutchman Jelle Klaasen in the quarter-final, including a magical nine-dart finish, and his controlled performance in the last-four against James Wade, this could be worth taking an interest in.

This match is a repeat of the final from two years ago; a New Year's Day epic that went right down to a sudden-death leg after numerous twists and turns throughout the night. Raymond held his nerve that time to prevail 7-6. 10/1 says he'll win by the same scoreline tonight.

An interesting bet I've seen is van Barneveld to win with a 2.5 set start on Taylor, at 5/6. This game will not be the walkover Phil has experienced so far in the tournament, and Raymond is more than capable of beating him - if The Power does triumph though, I can't see it being by much.

Another bet to maybe have a little dabble on is the highest checkout market, in which we price Barney an 11/10 chance. We all know how good Taylor is, but his checkouts are quite often in double-digits, and not three-figures like van Barneveld is more than capable of doing - indeed, in his quarter-final he scored a superb 161, finishing on the bull, to win.

Be sure to join us for the 19:15 kick-off - when the action gets underway you'll still be able to get a bet on. Whatever happens in the match, our betlive service will have all the angles covered.
