Irish bookies fear Patriotic Punters will strike again!
Irish punters have given bookmakers a real hiding over the last few weeks - and Irish based firms fear another big patriotic punt will be landed this weekend when Ireland's footballers take on Macedonia.
William Hill rate Ireland 1/2 favourites in their Euro 2012 qualifying match at the Aviva Stadium in Dublin.
The Macedonians, who have only won 1 of their last 8 International matches, are rated 13/2 by Hills to upset Giovanni Trapattoni's side.
Robbie Keane, Ireland's record goalscorer, has scored 4 goals in his last 6 matches in the Aviva - and he's rated the 7/2 favourite to score the first goal for the ‘boys in green'.
‘Irish punters have made a real killing from their patriotic punting,' said William Hill spokesman Tony Kenny, ‘We were hit for six by our cricketers, slammed into touch by our rugby team and then given a real whipping by our racing boys at Cheltenham.
‘If the trend continues then we'll probably get a real kicking courtesy of Trap's men on Saturday.'
