Wimbledon Day 1 Predictions: Best Bets On Monday 29th June 2026

| BY Sam Cox

The first round proper of Wimbledon begins on June 29th and William Hill News will bring you coverage of the biggest matches every day throughout this summer’s tournament.

Wimbledon Predictions Today:

  • Rafael Jódar to win 3-0
  • Jannik Sinner -10.5 games
  • Emma Raducanu to win 2-1
  • Jeļena Ostapenko -6.5 games
  • Serena Williams to win 2-0

Without further ado, it’s time to get stuck into Monday’s action – so here are some of our top tennis betting tips at SW19.

Felix Gill vs Rafael Jódar

Playing in the first round of a Grand Slam for the first time in his career, Felix Gill has the unfortunate matchup of taking on ascending star Rafael Jódar.

The Spaniard was a quarterfinalist at the French Open and has reached the last eight at the last two Masters events.

This is Jódar’s first professional grass court event. He was a quarterfinalist in the boys tournament at the All England Club a couple of years ago, but this is a much bigger test.

Despite Jódar’s lack of experience on this surface, it’s hard to see how Gill makes this even remotely competitive.

Jannik Sinner vs Miomir Kecmanović

Jannik Sinner has won all four of his previous matches against Miomir Kecmanović. The world number one has supposedly made changes to improve how he performs in extreme heat ahead of Wimbledon.

Interestingly, Sinner also decided against playing in any warm-up events and instead opted to practice at Wimbledon in preparation.

Kecmanović’s preparation didn’t suggest he’s ready for a major upset – he lost in the first round in Halle after an early exit from the French Open.

Normal service is going to resume for Sinner. We won’t be finding out how he deals with extreme temperatures with the heatwave coming to an end.

Antonia Ružić vs Emma Raducanu

Fresh off a run to the final at Queen’s, confidence in Emma Raducanu should be high, but the Brit is dealing with a pre-Wimbledon injury scare. She reportedly has a niggling shin injury, and was seen in an orthopaedic boot.

Consistency has been hard to come by for Antonia Ružić. She has also beaten Elena Rybakina and Qinwen Zheng this year, so she’s not to be taken lightly.

Ružić beat Raducanu at Indian Wells. It’s not out of the question that she upsets the Brit here, and will at least give her a scare.

Jeļena Ostapenko vs Harriet Dart

This is the first match between Jeļena Ostapenko and Harriet Dart since Eastbourne in 2023. Ostapenko won in straight sets on that occasion and is understandably favoured for this contest.

Ostapenko fell at the first round at the All England Club 12 months ago, but was a quarterfinalist in 2024 and has several wins against top 30 players since the turn of the year.

This is a mismatch. Ostapenko is more than capable of blowing an opportunity here, but Dart hasn’t shown enough to suggest she can win.

Serena Williams vs Maya Joint

Awarded a wild card, Serena Williams is competing in her first singles match since the 2022 US Open. Maya Joint, a 20-year-old ranked outside the world’s top 50, will be taking part in the biggest match of her career, as she competes in the first round of Wimbledon for only the second time.

Joint has won two Grand Slam matches. She has lost 12 of her last 13 matches on the WTA Tour but notably won at Eastbourne in 2025.

The draw was relatively kind to Williams here. We don’t really know what level she’s going to be at, but this will be a good way to ease into proceedings before sterner tests follow with Alexandra Eala as the probable second round opponent.
