Champions League Odds: Predictions For Wednesday’s Play-Offs

Inter are 19/10 to get the job done at Bodo/Glimt with both teams on the scoresheet with William Hill, a 2-2 draw between Club Brugge and Atletico Madrid pays a huge 16/1, whilst all signs lead to a draw in Greece at 11/5.

@Footy_Tipster gives his best predictions ahead of this round of fixtures in the UEFA Champions League..

The UEFA Champions League returns this week with some of Europe’s biggest clubs looking to put themselves on their way to Budapest for the final in May.

The UEFA Champions League action on Wednesday night will get underway at 5.45pm in Azerbaijan as Qarabag welcome Newcastle United.

Elsewhere, Inter Milan will travel to the Arctic Circle to face Bodo/Glimt, Club Brugge welcome two-time UCL finalists Atletico Madrid to the Jan Breydel Stadion, whilst a hostile Georgios Karaiskakis Stadium awaits as Olympiacos play hosts to German side Bayer Leverkusen.

Now, let’s take a closer look at some Champions League odds and betting angles for Wednesday’s fixtures:

Bodo/Glimt v Inter – Wednesday, 8pm

Punters can bet on Bodo/Glimt v Inter with William Hill

  • Bodo/Glimt surprised quite a few but fully deserve their spot in this play-off having beat both Manchester City (3-1) and Atletico Madrid (2-1) in their last two outings, enough to earn them 23rd place on goal-difference.
  • Kjetil Knutsen’s side have made history already in this campaign and will be looking to make more on Wednesday night, victory here would see Bodo/Glimt become the first Norwegian side ever to win three consecutive games in the UEFA Champions League, they are priced at 17/5 to do just that with William Hill.
  • This will be tough though, not just because they are up against the European giants of Inter Milan but the fact that Bodo/Glimt’s domestic season ended back in November and their clash with Atletico three weeks ago marks their last game, not ideal preparation.
    ——————————–
  • Not since 2010 have Inter Milan won the UEFA Champions League, the three-time champions have reached the final in this competition in two of their last three seasons and will be looking to go all the way this year under former player and UCL winner Cristian Chivu.
  • Inter have seen five of their last seven games in all competitions produce at least three goals, whilst they’ve won each of their last six games away from home in all competitions without conceding, William Hill have Nerazzurri priced at 5/2 to make it seven away wins in a row with a clean sheet.
  • Cristian Chivu’s side have lost just one of their last thirteen games in all competitions and whilst they are set to face sub-zero conditions and a test on an artificial pitch, i’m going to back the Italian side to win this one, albeit with both sides on the scoresheet.

Prediction: Both Teams To Score & Inter To Win (19/10), Bodo/Glimt 1-2 Inter (11/2).

Club Brugge v Atletico Madrid – Wednesday, 8pm

Punters can bet on Club Brugge v Atletico Madrid with William Hill

  • Club Brugge were up against it in terms of securing a top twenty-four spot in the UEFA Champions League but back-to-back wins including an impressive 3-0 victory against Marseille was enough for the Belgian side to finish 19th and set up this play-off clash with Atleti.
  • A win on Wednesday evening would bring up three consecutive UEFA Champions League victories for just the second time; previously doing so in 2022-23 with the third victory in that run coming against Atlético Madrid, winning 2-0 here on home soil, William Hill has priced another 2-0 victory here up at 18/1.
  • Club Brugge are unbeaten at home against Atleti after four UEFA meetings (W3 D1). They have scored three or more goals in five of their six UEFA home matches this season, whilst they’ve scored two or more in each of their last five games on home soil.
    ——————————–
  • It’s been a strange week for Atletico Madrid, having suffered a 1-0 defeat at home to Betis, Atleti then stuck four past Barcelona without reply in the Copa del Rey before an embarrassing defeat at struggling Rayo Vallecano last weekend (3-0).
  • Diego Simeone’s side have lost four of their last six knockout-phase ties in the Champions League and haven’t kept a clean sheet in any of their last eight UCL games which is unusual for a Simeone side, which makes ‘Atleti To Win & Both Teams To Score’ at 12/5 with William Hill good value for those away backers.
  • I’m expecting goals in this one, all eight of Club Brugge’s UEFA Champions League games have produced at least three goals this campaign, whilst all but one of Atleti’s eight games produced the same, i’m backing goals and a draw.

Prediction: Both Teams To Score & Over 2.5 Goals (10/11), Club Brugge 2-2 Atletico Madrid (11/1).

Olympiacos v Bayer Leverkusen – Wednesday, 8pm

Punters can bet on Olympiacos v Bayer Leverkusen with William Hill

  • Without a win in their last two games in their domestic campaign, Olympiacos are looking to bounce back as they return to home soil and hope to take a result over to Germany to defend in the second leg.
  • This is the second meeting between these two sides in this campaign having met here in Greece a month ago on Matchday seven, with Olympiacos coming through that one with a 2-0 victory despite having just 28% possession, José Luis Mendilibar’s side are priced at 6/4 to make it back-to-back wins against Bayer Leverkusen.
  • Despite that victory in January, it remains Olympiacos’ only win against a German side in their last fourteen attempts (D1, L12), it also remains their only win on home soil during this UEFA Champions League campaign.
    ——————————–
  • Bayer Leverkusen finished just a point above Olympiacos in the league phase and despite a slow start to their domestic campaign, things are starting to click and a 4-0 win against St Pauli on Saturday extends their unbeaten run to six games in all competitions (W5, D1).
  • However, Bayer Leverkusen are still yet to win away to Greek opposition since 1993 (D2, L2), whilst they enter Wednesday’s fixture having conceded exactly once in four of their last five away games, William Hill are 8/5 for that trend to continue with Olympiacos to score exactly one.
  • Of teams with ten+ matches played in the knockout stages of the UEFA Champions League, Bayer Leverkusen have the worst win percentage (11%), winning just two of their nineteen games played (D4 L13).

Prediction: Draw (11/5), Olympiacos 1-1 Bayer Leverkusen (5/1).
